Post Concussion Management Program is composed of interventions that addressthe following :
- Functional deficits resulting in challenges returning to work
- Vestibular injuries, imbalance, dizziness and motion sensitivity
- Physical impairments, fatigue, and pain as a result of neurological injury
- Cognitive deficits and behavioural / personality changes
- Emotional difficulties such as frustration, fear / anxiety, and mood changes
- Medical issues associated with the injury or illness, such as musculoskeletal, neurological, vestibular, and / or substance abuse
- Clients’ understanding of their head injury and the healing process
- Occupational TherapyEssential Skills : Excellent clinical, interpersonal andorganizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize with a focus oncustomer service;
and an interest in active rehabilitation. Experiencewith concussion, cognitive therapy, and vision therapy is preferred
OT Essential Strengths : Evaluates patient’s functional status (muscle function,endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills,self-care ability, work capacity, etc.
Identifies equipment needs.Participates in the development of the total plan of care.
