The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires an experienced Forensic Video Analyst to assist the Facial Recognition and Forensic Video Unit (FRFV). Responsibilities of this position will include :
- Establishing and maintaining electronic evidence services as they relate specifically to video analysis, post-production video editing and related disclosure requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining standards, procedures and documentation to ensure the integrity and continuity of exhibits.
- Researching, planning, producing and presenting technical recommendations by formal report.
- Maintenance of laboratory systems, software and network infrastructure.
- Putting in place strategies to resolve recurring trouble and / or issues with technology.
- Crafting expansion and retirement strategies of technologies utilized by Forensic Video Analsys and Forensic Video Field Technicians.
- Working with other operational areas in maintaining an ever evolving support services model, including the mentorship of Forensic Video Field Technicians operating in the field.
- Preparation of reports for investigative and judicial review.
- Assisting investigators in securing computer evidence subsequent to judicial orders as required.
- Performing administrative functions and other duties supporting forensic service systems and applications.
Job Requirements
Degree in a related discipline and 1 year of relevant experience. OR Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and 2 years relevant experience. OR 1 year related certificateand 4 years relevant experience.Minimum of 4 years handling digital evidence in a law enforcement environment.Advanced understanding of digital evidence fundamentals (spatial / temporal compression, codecs, authentication etc.)Understanding forensic workflow related to comparative analysis of video / images and facial recognition.Advanced familiarity with forensic video tools. (AmpedFIVE, AXON, Magnet Witness, Adobe Creative Cloud etc.)FBI face comparison training.Advanced Experience with non-linear editors and other post-production tools.Advanced familiarty with the fundamentals of digital audio (formats, sameple rates, bit-depth, compression etc.)Experience with Microsoft, Linux, and Mac OSX operating and file systems, related desktop applications and related enterprise application architecture.Experience in operational policing and providing opinion evidence to the courts considered an asset.A background in intelligence work considered an asset.The physical ability to lift and move equipment.The following designations would be considered an asset : LEVA Forensic Video Analyst Certification, EESC VFT Certification, AVID Certification, Adobe Premier or Photoshop CertificationExcellent verbal and written presentation skills.Applicants must possess a Valid Class 5 Alberta’s Driver’s license and must be able to complete a City Driver’s License application.Hours of Work :
33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
Salary Range :
21M, Salary Grade : 044, $48.84- $61.54 (Hourly), $3,296.80 - $4,154.40 (Bi-Weekly), $86,045.63 - $ 108,430.43 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
