Position’s Primary Objectives :
Reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives and overseeing the Fund Development and Communications support staff, the Fund Development and Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in leading and growing Pacifica Housing’s fund development efforts and in enhancing the organization’s external communications.
This role will focus on securing funding through grants, donor relationships, and campaigns, while strengthening Pacifica Housing’s public profile and advocacy work.
The Fund Development and Communications Manager will work closely with the Associate Director to develop and execute strategic communications initiatives, support public and donor engagement, and build awareness of Pacifica Housing's impact in the community.
Success in this role will inspire new partnerships, deepen existing relationships, and help Pacifica Housing achieve its mission as one of Vancouver Island’s largest providers of affordable housing and supportive services.

Key Responsibilities
Fund Development
Lead the creation and implementation of strategic fund development plans, including campaigns, donor engagement strategies, and a variety of funding sources (e.
g., major gifts, legacy giving, and sponsorships).
- Support the Associate Director in identifying funding opportunities, managing grant applications, and communicating with donors and foundations.
- Expand and manage the donor database, ensuring accurate, up-to-date record-keeping and stewarding long-term relationships.
- Plan and coordinate major fundraising events and community campaigns, maintaining focus on Pacifica Housing’s mission and goals.
- Develop and maintain a structured stewardship program to recognize and thank donors, fostering strong, ongoing relationships.
External Communications and Public Relations
- Support Pacifica Housing’s external communications initiatives by developing key messaging that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Assist the Associate Director in advocacy work, with a focus on government relations and public communications that advance the organization’s strategic priorities.
- Oversee media relations, including press releases, public statements, and media outreach, to promote awareness of Pacifica Housing’s impact and projects.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for direct advertising and digital promotions, managing Pacifica Housing’s online and social media presence.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Manage and mentor the Fund Development and Communications Coordinator, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and strategic partners to understand key organizational objectives, financial strategies and achieve fund development and communications goals.
- Ensure alignment of fund development and external communications initiatives with Pacifica Housing’s overall strategy and regulatory requirements.
Other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications : (minimum Education and Experience requirements) :
Note : An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Education :
Post-secondary degree in business, funding, marketing, communications, or a related field. Preferred CFRE designation or equivalent training in fund development.
Experience :
- Minimum of five (5) years in a management role with responsibilities in fund development, donor relations and external communications.
- Proven experience in planning and implementing successful fund development initiatives and public relations campaigns.
- Strong analytical and planning skills, with a proactive approach to solving challenges and enhancing systems.
- Experience as a leader in managing and guiding staff.
Skills and Abilities :
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proven abilities in crafting messages that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in donor and stakeholder relations.
- Proficient in project management and prioritizing tasks to achieve long-term objectives.
- Knowledgeable in digital tools, social media, and relevant design software, such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and WordPress.
Additional Requirements
- Must have valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability business class’ insurance.
- Periodic travel will be required.
