Our Aecon IDD department has an immediate need in the Toronto office for a Sr. IDD GIS Specialist, who will foster GIS innovation within the company. This position will report to the IDD Manager, Geospatial Data Management and will work closely with all IDD staff and Aecon colleagues to provide GIS technical expertise to prospective and existing clients, and business partners.

What You’ll Do Here :

  • Work with the Geospatial Manager to design and effectively employ 3D geospatial / BIM solutions on regulatory and permitting elements of Canadian / international infrastructure and transportation planning projects
  • Create basic FME scripts to automate workflows in FME desktop / server
  • Create 3D maps, databases, and other deliverables for simultaneously ongoing bid / execution projects on short notice
  • Mentor and train junior GIS Staff, supporting their growth and fostering a culture of support and collaboration
  • Independently organize, conceptualize, and conduct large, advanced spatial analyses
  • Develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languages
  • Develop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Operations Dashboards, Story Maps, Collector, Survey 123 within ArcGIS Enterprise platform
  • Create maps, databases and other deliverables on short notice
  • Site travel will be required 20% of the time within Ontario (mostly GTA)
  • Perform other duties as needed

What You Bring to the Team :

  • Post secondary degree / diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or related discipline
  • 5 to 10 years of experience and knowledge working with Esri GIS applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, etc)
  • High data organization standards performing rigorous quality control / quality assurance practices for all GIS data created (cleaned attribute tables, configured popups, appropriate symbology, following naming conventions, etc)
  • Performs all aspects of GIS activities associated with creating, managing, editing, mapping, and analyzing spatial data
  • Advance knowledge of ESRI tools including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Knowledge of python, arcade, Java Script, FME, SQL, HTML, Esri model builder an asset but not required
  • Experience with Autodesk software including ACC, Civil 3D and Revit
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities; including experience creating analytical based reports
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
