COUNSELLOR

STUDENT SERVICES

The successful candidate will support student’s mental health by fostering personal and academic coping skills and will be forward thinking, provide clear direction, demonstrate curiosity, be innovative, build strong relationships, and contribute to the development of people, teams, and our culture of excellence.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Provide evidence-based mental health support in accordance with provincial regulating body standards of practice (CAP, ACSW).
  • Provide in-person and virtual crisis and drop-in counselling to at-risk students
  • Actively participate, as a multidisciplinary Wellness Team member, to ensure best practices and student safety.
  • Participate and / or lead Wellness Team mental health initiatives and projects that support NorQuest students.
  • Provide classroom presentations on mental health topics.
  • Engage in scholarly activity / research / continuing education to support best practices and excellence in student mental health service delivery
  • Participate in transition to employment (TEP) admission processes by reviewing psychoeducational assessment and conducting suitability interviews.
  • Collaborate with other areas of the College in support of student mental health and a mentally healthy learning community.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master’s in Counselling Psychology, Master’s in Educational Psychology or Graduate Degree in Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology or Clinical Social Work.
  • Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists or Alberta College of Social Workers, or eligiblity for registration..
  • Telehealth Training Certificate.
  • 5+ years of experience providing mental health counselling.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
  • Experience withproviding trauma informed psychosocial interventions, crisis counselling and risk assessmentworking with diverse client groups, using an intercultural lensinterpreting psychoeducational assessments and functional impactsworking with online processes and file management systemsdeveloping / delivering resources to support positive mental health for groupsworking in a multidisciplinary settingproviding professional consultationleading / managing projectstraining on supporting individuals impacted by sexual violencefostering collaborative, positive working relationships

  • SALARY : Reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a Faculty role and therefore the pay range is quite large. The agreement outlines how pay is determined, for someone with a Master's degree, the range is $69,103 - $110,889 depending on your years of experience.

    This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great benefits and pension programs.

    This role will require regular on-campus work at our downtown Edmonton campus.
