Job Brief

Responsible for the training and active coaching of MPU operators, providing mechanical support, troubleshooting applicable assets, traveling to all sites within Newfoundland Wholly Owned to support mobile equipment operations, and operate equipment.

What You’ll Do

As the Mobile Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for the training and active coaching of MPU operators, providing mechanical support, troubleshooting applicable assets, traveling to all sites within Newfoundland Wholly Owned to support mobile equipment operations, and operate equipment as needed. Other duties include :

  • Ensuring that mobile explosive mixing / pumping units are kept in top working condition and compliant with all relevant Canadian safety regulations.
  • Coaching new and existing employees to adhere to work standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Supporting and performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on heavy trucks and their specialized explosive pumping systems.
  • Quickly identifying and resolving equipment faults or breakdowns in both mobile and static explosive delivery units.
  • Ensuring repairs are done efficiently to minimize downtime while maintaining safety.
  • Following safe work procedures in an explosive environment.
  • Verifying trucks are free of explosive materials and properly decontaminated before maintenance to prevent fire or accidental detonation.
  • Maintaining detailed maintenance records, work orders, and inspection checklists for each vehicle.
  • Ensuring documentation meets regulatory and company standards, including safety-critical systems work and inspections as required by regulations.
  • Supporting the development of new hires through active coaching and field audits against Dyno Nobel standards.
  • Assisting in developing key operating instructions for mobile equipment.
  • Traveling to all sites throughout NL WO to conduct competency audits of operators.

What We're Looking For

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 3 with air brake endorsement required; Class 1 with air brake preferred).
  • Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy truck or equipment maintenance, with skills in diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience in mining, industrial sites, or with bulk explosives trucks / equipment (preferred).
  • Current WHMIS and TDG certifications.
  • Willingness to complete site-specific mine safety and explosives safety training.
