We are currently hiring a Part Time Support Service Worker to join our team at our Bethany Residence program in Burlington.
The Support Service Worker (SSW) reports to the Supervisor and is responsible for some or all tasks within laundry, housekeeping and food services. These positions are responsible for collecting, laundering and returning residents’ personal laundry, performing housekeeping tasks in resident apartments and common areas, setting and serving meals to residents and dishwashing all while ensuring safe food preparation and handling practices

A minimum of a Grade 10 education or equivalent is preferred.Must possess or be able to obtain the Food Handlers Certificate as offered by Public Health Services within 60 days of employment and renewed every 5 years.Must demonstrate a high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively.Must be a strong team player who demonstrates the ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with residents, family members, and colleagues.Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction and have a genuine interest in working with seniors and adult with disabilities in a congregate home setting.Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements is required.Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.Experience in a long-term care / retirement home kitchen an asset.Must demonstrate ability to problem solve, work efficiently, effectively and meet required timelines.Must be able to maintain a clean / sanitary work area and meet the physical demands of the position which include but are not limited to : standing, shifting, leaning over stoves / grills, reaching, bending, lifting / moving items of variable weights.Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment is beneficial.Must be able to maintain regular and consistent attendance, be punctual and meet pre-determined deadlines.Job Type : Part-Time
