About The Role

The Security Team Lead reports to the Security Supervisor and performs a broad range of customer‑service based security and public‑safety related duties to safeguard staff, students and the public who access the Mount Royal University campus. As a member of the security team on shift, the Security Team Lead rotates through a range of security and patrol tasking activities each day, including acting on behalf of the Security Supervisor when absent. This position is a full‑time role (37.5 hours per week) with a hybrid work arrangement; shift rotations include eight, ten and twelve‑hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to Security Representatives during the Security Supervisor’s absence, delegating work, training, and documenting performance management issues.
• Ensure all policies and procedures are properly carried out to maintain campus safety.
• Recognize and investigate all incidents, suspicious persons, safety concerns and maintenance issues.
• Monitor, assess, record and respond to all alarms from the Intrusion Alarm system, Fire panel, and CCTV system.
• Assess accident scenes and recommend assistance from external agencies such as EMS, Calgary Police and Calgary Fire Department.
• Monitor buildings and facilities to ensure a safe environment.
• Proactively liaise with individuals, organizations and groups on campus.
• Complete detailed and objective incident reports.
