Job description

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is accepting applications on an on-going basis for Casual Secretarial / Clerical Support Staff. The assignments may be located at any of the schools in our district and requires flexible availability.

Along with recruiting for Casual Secretarial / Clerical Support Staff, Dufferin-Peel is activity recruiting for permanent school-based secretarial positions.

Select candidates will be contacted and will be required to undergo secretarial skills testing and an interview. Please note your application will not be considered unless you have submitted all the required documents. A secondary school graduation diploma or transcripts must be attached to your application.

Applicants must have :

  • A Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Expertise in the use of computer technology (e.g. email, spreadsheets and internet applications)
  • Excellent keyboarding skills
  • Minimum typing 40 words per minute
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to acquire skills in Board specific programs e.g. Trillium, IREN
  • 1-4 years of recent working experience in an office environment
  • Availability to accept assignments on a casual basis during the day and with short notice
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior secretarial experience in an educational setting

Experience in the following areas would be an asset :

  • Bookkeeping and budget skills
  • Familiarity with School Board regulations / policies and procedures
  • Reception / Switchboard
  • Ability to adapt to changing and different environments
  • A valid drivers license
  • First Aid Certification
