Job description

On behalf of Ignite Technical Resources, we are recruiting for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer.

Summary of the Role

This role offers the opportunity to lead the development of advanced analytics tools for electric, water, and gas distribution systems. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of machine learning, Industrial IoT, and distributed systems to solve complex challenges in utility power distribution. You will collaborate across Canadian and U.S. teams and engage with global partners to design solutions that integrate distributed energy resources like solar, wind, and EV charging into utility networks.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable, production-ready machine learning solutions.
  • Build and enhance AI-driven capabilities for grid management platforms.
  • Lead model development, optimization, and deployment processes for time-series data and edge-ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and deliver high-performance solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate new methodologies into projects.

Core Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience delivering large-scale systems into production environments.
  • Expertise in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax, or Ray.
  • Experience with accelerators like TPUs and GPUs, and handling time-series ML problems.
  • Background in distributed systems and utilities, oil and gas, or a related domain.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ for machine learning and software development.

    • Desired Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with power transmission and distribution systems, renewable energy integration, and real-time data analysis.
  • Experience with cloud-native infrastructure for large-scale ML deployment.
  • Knowledge of advanced ML architectures, such as transformers and reinforcement learning models.
  • Leadership experience in technical projects or ML infrastructure optimization.
  • Experience with Linux environments, shell scripting, and scalable software architecture.

    • Terms

    This is a 100% remote role open to candidates across Canada, with no onsite requirements. It is a full-time permanent position, with candidates expected to use company-provided hardware. Successful candidates will be influential in setting the strategic direction of analytics and grid management technology.
