Safety Specialist
The Safety Specialist supports Air Canada Rouge’s Safety Management System (SMS) by managing frontline safety reports and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effective use of SMS tools (including AQD, ARMS risk methodology, causal analysis tools, . This role requires strong judgment, communication, and operational awareness, with a commitment to SMS principles and safety oversight in an evolving, technology‑enabled environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, review, triage, classify, and risk‑assess safety reports from internal and external sources, determining investigation requirements.
- Communicate with employees to address safety concerns and request additional information when needed.
- Monitor, track, and verify corrective actions and their effectiveness following reports, investigations, and management reviews.
- Support the Manager, Safety Systems, Performance & Investigations with database / application administration (user access, troubleshooting, configuration).
- Provide regular reporting, insights, and trend analysis to support safety performance management.
- Conduct reconciliations (., CADORS, safety reports, training) to ensure data quality and system integrity.
- Actively participate in the organization’s SMS by reporting hazards, promoting safety culture, and supporting policy adherence.
- Participate in departmental safety meetings.
- Support the development of management and executive reports for the Management Review process.
- Assist with internal communications and employee engagement initiatives.
- Serve as a Safety Ambassador and resource for employees across the organization.
- Collect and analyze data to identify safety and quality trends.
- Support the delivery and administration of safety‑related training; ensure SMS training records meet required standards.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education required.Minimum 3 years of related experience.Human Factors and Root Cause Analysis training (or completion within 1 year).Aviation Risk Management training (or completion within 1 year).Training in Safety or Quality Management Systems is an asset.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Experience with SMS reporting, data analysis, or aviation auditing is an asset.Diversity & Inclusion
