Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Nature and Scope
Instructors report directly to their applicable Program Coordinator and are located across the province of Saskatchewan in various educational settings. The incumbent instructs SIIT students in the classroom, laboratory or shop environments and assists during consultation hours. This position will require both online and in-person instruction. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.
General Accountability
As the educational leader in the classroom, Instructors will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs and curricula with the purpose of promoting student success. The Instructor will interact with cutting edge, new technologies that support Virtual Health Care including telerobotic ultrasonography. The Instructor will teach foundation knowledge in Health Care Systems, Safe Environments, Health Office Procedures and Basic Anatomy to support daily tasks and functionality of Virtual Health Care. The Instructor will be responsible for delivering content in a variety of ways including hands on, online instruction and asynchronous components and will also play a crucial role in curriculum development and resource building capacities. This position will require some evening instruction and flexible working hours. Working collaboratively as a team of educational professionals, Instructors will demonstrate a strong commitment to create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment at SIIT.
Instructors are required to keep current with developments in their subject area, instructional resources and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities to suit the individual needs of their students. The incumbent will be required to plan, organize and implement instructional activities which create a learning environment that guides and provides the greatest opportunity for student success. Required Qualifications and Experience : Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS). Minimum 5 years of full-time clinical practice experience in medical-surgical, pediatrics / labor and delivery, and / or long term care / residential settings is required. Experience with a learning management system, such as Brightspace is highly preferred. For success in this position a genuine commitment to help students learn and succeed is required.
