Job description

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Stores Clerk A assists with the receiving, organization, distribution, replenishment and tracking of inventories and supplies in support of healthcare throughout the NSH.

The Stores Clerk ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and inter professional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

As a Stores clerk, this job incorporates a number of duties including : loading, unloading trucks, shipping, receiving, distributing supplies, ordering, replenishing, handling equipment and other materials procured for NSH as stock or non-stock. Provide exceptional customer service by responding to any urgent requests or general inquiries and enhance end users supply chain service.

The Stores Clerk will also be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment, e.g. electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, delivery carts etc. Keeping the work area& dock clean at all times. Other duties may be assigned as needed, such as the loading / unloading of delivery vehicles, cycle counts and special projects, as well as the organizing and delivering of stock and non-stock items, some of which may be Dangerous Goods.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education programs
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, priority setting skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills as well as leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of the SAP computer system is preferred
  • Previous experience in a central stores / purchasing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory control preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of and current relevant experience with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of Materials Management Service in the delivery of patient care and understanding of how errors may affect medical treatment and cause financial loss
  • PLEASE NOTE : This position requires considerable standing, moving, bending, kneeling, and lifting of heavy and awkward objects
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
