Instructional Designer – Tax Learning (18-month contract)

As an Instructional Designer for the Tax Learning and Development Team, you will be instrumental in assessing, designing, and developing new course content, as well as maintaining and improving existing courses.
You will collaborate closely with tax learning leads and support the delivery of our learning strategy.
What you will do
Learning and Performance Consulting :
- Collaborate with tax learning leads to conduct needs assessments, identify business requirements, and design development solutions.
- Engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define learning objectives and requirements.
Instructional Design :
- Collaborate with tax learning leads to design, develop, and deliver learning solutions, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and learning outcomes.
- Apply instructional design principles in the development of learning solutions for various modalities, such as Instructor Led Trainings (ILTs), Virtual Instructor Led Trainings (VILTs), videos, and eLearning modules, along with supplementary exercises, tutorials, job aids, guides, and assessments, focused on building tax technical, business, and leadership capabilities for junior to senior practitioners.
- Apply instructional design principles and a continuous improvement mindset in the ongoing maintenance and modernization of current learning solutions.
- Stay updated with best practices in adult learning theory, instructional design, and learning technology delivery solutions.
Relationship Management :
- Manage relationships between the tax learning team, client services SMEs, and the central Digital Learning and Learning Technology teams.
- Establish and maintain relationships with learning teams across the firm, Global Tax L&D team, and colleagues in the Global ID Community of Practice.
What you bring to the role
- Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or similar.
- Adult education certificate or training is a plus.
- CTDP certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in learning and development / instructional design.
- High degree of technical literacy with proven ability to design and create self-paced interactive instructional content, as well as more traditional in-person and virtual instructor-led training programs.
- Strong aptitude, interest, or experience in new technologies and artificial intelligence.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working with learning systems infrastructure (LMS, LXP, LCMS, learning content delivery) and associated industry standards.
- In-depth knowledge of various authoring and editing tools ( Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, etc.) to complement strong visual design skills and ability to storyboard.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize issues and manage projects on-time.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Excellent process creation and continuous improvement skills.
- Previous experience in professional services firms (accounting, legal, etc.) is a significant asset.
This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders while at KPMG.
The successful candidate may be required to create, interpret and / or apply policies, practices, laws and and / or regulations during the regular course of their employment.
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $69,000 to $110,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills, & competencies, and unique qualifications.
