This role encompasses a variety of duties that takes the Technologist to the highest mountain peaks in BC, to the front lines supporting our officers. Technologists will be challenged with troubleshooting RF anomalies, network failures and providing ad hock solutions to satisfy complex operational needs. Continuous advancements in technology ensure Technologists will participate in the implementation and development of wireless communications infrastructure. Some typical duties experienced by the Technologist :

  • Mountain top radio repeater station maintenance, configuration, and life cycle management
  • IT support and development for Radio Over IP networks
  • Communications planning and support for police operations and high security events (eg. Olympics, national leaders’ summit)
  • Developing the application of other technologies such as GPS tracking, satellite communications, UAV’s, and remote video steaming. The RCMP is seeking talented candidates with proven ability to work in this wide range of IT and electronics infrastructure for the Radio Technology Program in E Division (BC).These positions reside at various Radio Operations Shops / Units across British Columbia and are situated in a law enforcement environment which includes contact with uniformed police officers.
