Our MP’s office is looking for a full-time employee to assist with communications and digital media management.
The job location is flexible. Candidates able and willing to work in Ottawa, Ontario may also be considered for the role.
Job Description
The Communications Assistant will be responsible for :
- Designing and drafting print and digital communications products, including ads, event posters, householders and mailers, congratulatory scrolls, email updates, pamphlets and digital graphics;
- Preparing content for various social media channels (including WeChat) and managing that content on a daily basis;
- Assisting with the preparation of speeches, member’s statements and key messages for events
- Drafting key correspondence and press releases;
- Researching policy for the purposes of preparing communications;
- Coordinating events, including press conferences, ministerial visits and other events in Scarborough—Agincourt or Ottawa;
- Monitoring local and national media coverage;
- Ensuring a staff presence at events (including evenings and weekends);
- Participating in the Constituency Youth Council and Coffee Chats, including attending monthly Saturday meetings;
- Carrying out other duties as required, including day-to-day operations and special projects;
- Assisting with preparation for committee work;
- Helping to manage the MP’s email account, as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills :
Relevant post-secondary education;Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle;Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);Strong written and verbal communication skills;Strong digital media and graphic design skills (Publisher, Canva);Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines;Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced, changing environments;Sound political judgment, tact, and diplomacy;Fluency in French is an asset, but not required;Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.Additional Information

Schedule : Full time (37.5 hours). Regular office hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Salary : Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
