Job Title: Sr Developer and Technical Lead

Job Description

As a Sr Developer and Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in engineering excellence and Agile leadership within the CNMS and EMS domains. You will balance your time between hands-on development and leadership responsibilities, ensuring robust and scalable network management solutions while advancing Agile maturity and team performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain CNMS/EMS features for configuration, fault, performance, and service management.
• Integrate scalable network management solutions with internal systems and external vendors.
• Maintain software modules, automated test suites, and technical documentation.
• Ensure system-level modeling, security compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support backlog grooming and sprint planning with the Product Owner.
• Promote right-sizing of stories and effective use of story points.
• Identify and remove technical impediments, collaborating with developers, architects, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with other teams and the Release Train Engineer to manage dependencies and align on PI objectives.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, Agile accountability, and engineering excellence.
• Act as a technical liaison between development teams and business stakeholders.
• Mentor junior developers in Agile and technical practices.
• Encourage experimentation and learning through spikes, PoCs, and retrospectives.

Essential Skills

• 6-10 years of experience in technical design and development.
• Programming skills in modern C++ or Python, with a preference for C++.
• Experience developing software in a Linux environment.
• Working knowledge of Yang, NMTS XML, YAML, IETF JSON encoding, and template language such as Jinja2.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certified Scrum Master, SAFe certification, or equivalent Agile/Scrum training preferred.
• Knowledge of MEF and TMF Standards.
• Experience with IP, MPLS, SR-MPLS, Ethernet, and VLAN.
• Development experience with networking protocols and network management tools.
• Experience with system lifecycle development, from scratch to feature or product completion.
• Familiarity with API proxy, protobuf, YAML, and BDD test frameworks.

Work Environment

This position requires being on-site four days per week, with Wednesdays as a remote workday. Arrival and departure times are flexible within reason to accommodate traffic and personal schedules.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
