NAIT’s Department of Continuing Education for the AcademicUpgrading program is seeking a math contract instructor to teach high schoolgrade 11 Math 20-2 course during the 15-week Fall 2024 term, September toDecember. The Academic Upgrading program will be offering daily in-person delivery for the full term.
The Fall 2024 on-campus course will be delivered four days per week in the classroom from 10 : 00 – 11 : 50 am (7 hours per-week) between September 3 to December 17, 2024. We are seeking an instructor who has experience in teaching the AB Math High School Education Learning Outcomes. Acontracted instructor must have a desire to maintain positive and professionalinteractions with adult learners at a variety of skill levels, ages, andbackgrounds. Instructors must also be able to engage learners in interestingand innovative lessons within the classroom.
Please note, those invited for an interview will be asked to do ashort online demonstration lesson as part of the selection process.
Contract Instruction Deliverables :
Provideclassroom instruction using an outcomes-based educational approach in a grade11 or grade 12 high school Math course
Utilizeappropriate educational technology for communications and course delivery
Applyclassroom management strategies to maintain an effective in-person learningenvironment for students
Prepare,create, and deliver lessons and activities that directly support the courseLearning Outcomes in a classroom environment
Createand administer in-person assessments according to Learning Outcomes
Evaluateand assess student learning and performance
Maintainstudent attendance and other documentation as required
Liaisewith the Academic Upgrading staff and colleagues to ensure content relevance,consistent delivery of course materials and testing across sections
Maintainprofessional ethical relationships with students and colleagues
Respondprofessionally to student issues and concerns
Seekfeedback from students on instructional effectiveness
Skills & Abilities :
Energetic in leading and motivating students
Well-developed communication, interpersonal, andorganizational skills
Excellentclassroom management and instructional skills
Becomeproficient in the use of NAIT-LMS Brightspace (D2L), Microsoft Teams, andsupported tools for online
Abilityto prepare, create, deliver, and modify course content to meet varying studentlearning needs
Strong orientation to student success and satisfaction andempathetic to student needs
Stronginterpersonal and collaborative skills
Computer skills related to course delivery
Strong online technology skills
Strong understanding of AB High School Math curriculum
Qualifications :
RelatedB.Ed. or relevant degree preferred
Proficientin using learning technologies
Relatedinstructional experience at the high school or post-secondary levels an asset
Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).
