Job Title: Structural Designer

Salary: $75/HR - $95/HR

Job Type: Contract

The Structural Designer is responsible for completing outfitting design assignments on new construction and repair projects. The Structural Designer participates in all phases of new construction design projects including 3D model and drawing development, design preparations, engineering support, design execution, and design close-out activities.

This role is also responsible for liaison with internal and external partner design teams to ensure that the overall design is produced in accordance with the engineering input information and the production design standards and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Create accurate blueprints and schematics for manufacturing, ensuring compliance with design standards and specifications
• Design/Check hull structure, foundations, inclined and vertical ladders, doors, windows, hatches, and handrails
• Tackle complex design challenges, ensuring that ship systems integrate seamlessly and meet safety and operational standards
• Participate in inspections and testing to verify design accuracy and performance, ensuring all systems meet technical specifications and quality standards
• Ensure all required BOMs & Reports are included and accurate.
• Material Take Offs (MTOs)
• Identify and analyze quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance design efficiency, reduce errors, and improve overall work quality
• Interpret and communicate design requirements, progress, and challenges with Team Leads and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and clear understanding across the project

Requirements:

• A Degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering/Structural Engineering or equivalent
• 3+ years in a shipbuilding environment
• Knowledge of international Naval Architecture codes and standards such as IMO, SOLAS and Classification Society Rules
• Proficiency with CADMatic software
• Hands-on experience in designing ship structures or outfit designs
• Demonstrated ability to work semi-independently and under supervision to develop solutions to complex technical problems
• Technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear detailed written technical specifications, procedures and reports
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across teams
