Helical Pile Solutions is a deep foundations contractor with over 30 years of experience in the industry, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. ("Java"). Java staff have over 50 years of experience building some of Canada’s largest electrical infrastructure projects. The Helical Install Operator is responsible for safe and efficient screw pile installation, including occasional Field Supervisor duties. They ensure customer satisfaction, maintain safety standards, troubleshoot issues, and maintain accurate records.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and / or Accountabilities
- Takes direction from Project Managers and Field Supervisors.
- Exhibits pride in workmanship and an ability to execute all the duties of an Operator safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Comprehends the importance of dependability and consistency in a high-performance team environment.
- Understands the importance of worksite safety and manages field-level risks by undertaking the required steps of a Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA).
- Completes all necessary paperwork to support continuous install operations and project turnover.
- Operates equipment productively in all conditions including high traffic, remote or congested areas, as well as in all weather conditions.
- Receives materials accurately when required by maintaining organization as well as properly completing the associated paperwork.
- Proactively manages worksite.
- Seeks out innovative ways to increase production and potential savings.
- Mentors’ junior positions.
- Corrects piles during installation, handles extensions, and installs various pile types.
- Reads and follows specifications from plans and drawings accurately.
- Understands factors affecting installation, including torque, embedment, and ground conditions.
- Conducts daily equipment & rigging inspections.
- Constantly monitors equipment for leaks and potential malfunctions.
- Continuously inspects tools & rigging for defects.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems, field repair minor fixes and communicate major issues with mechanics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Abides by all HPS policies, procedures, rules and OH&S Act, Regulation & Code.
- Represents HPS in a professional manner while on and off job sites.
Qualifications & Certifications
High school diploma.Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 1 or 3 is an asset).Basic construction tools and quality assurance skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor construction environment.Field safety tickets including First Aid, H2S, CSTS, Fall Protection, and Ground Disturbance are an asset.This is a safety sensitive position and will require candidates to comply with HPS drug and alcohol program.Experience
Industry-related tool knowledge and machine operating experience are assets.Previous construction and leadership experience preferred.Experience operating equipment, specifically an excavator.Work Environment
Construction environment.Outdoors, including travel to remote locations.Exposure to loud noises.Exposure to extreme temperatures.Physical elements include bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, standing for long periods of time, lifting weights up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be always worn.Fast paced with tight deadlines.Accommodations while on a project are arranged by HPS in either a camp setting or hotel as determined by project requirements.Shift work.Work schedule may vary.Ability to work out of town for extended periods of time.Benefits and Perks
