Job Description
The Child Protection Manager is a critical role within Piikani Child and Family Services (PCFS), leading the Child Protection team dedicated to responding to child protection concerns of the Piikani Nation members.
This position requires a compassionate, dynamic, and culturally sensitive individual who can manage both the strategic and operational aspects of child protection services.
The successful candidate will work closely with families, community members, and external agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children, promoting the principles of strength-based and family-centered practice.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time, one year contract position with PCFS. This position will be primarily based out of our Brocket office.
Flexibility may be offered. Regular hours of work will be 8 : 00am-4 : 00pm Monday through Friday. The wage range for this position is $104,000-$122,000 depending on relevant education and experience levels.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, manage, and support the Child Protection team in the delivery of effective and culturally appropriate services.
- Oversee the assessment and investigation of child protection referrals, ensuring all cases are managed with sensitivity, professionalism, and in accordance with legal and organizational frameworks.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to enhance the quality of child protection services.
- Collaborate with community leaders, external agencies, and stakeholders to promote child welfare and advocate for the needs and rights of children and families within the Piikani Nation.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of child protection interventions, making data-informed decisions to improve service delivery.
- Manage budgets, grants, and funding applications to secure resources for child protection programs and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to families, facilitating access to community resources and services that promote family wellness and resilience.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings with the management team to evaluate clients and program progress.
- Attend and participate in weekly individual supervision meetings with the Executive Director to discuss client needs, goals and challenges.
- Adhere to all PCFS policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in child protection services, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural and societal context of the Piikani Nation.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Clean Criminal, and Child Intervention Record Check.
- Driver's license and reliable transportation.
