Our client located in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Director, Financial Reporting for a 3 months + contract opportunity. Reporting to the Managing Director, Corporate Finance and working on a Remote model, he / she will be responsible for all aspects of preparing and reporting Financial Statements, including collaboration across the organization to publish the annual report. This role also oversees the controls over financial reporting. This dynamic role will provide opportunities to engage with senior leaders, consultants and the external auditor.

Responsibilities :

• Manage end-to-end delivery of the annual financial reporting (including financial statements and notes) for external and internal reporting
• Oversee the preparation of the annual management’s discussion and analysis
• Lead the enhancement and development of the financial reporting tool for investment data requirements, partnering with Investment Operations and Data and Technology
• Manage the external auditor relationship and their audit of the annual financial statements
• Prepare and analyze internal management reporting
• Prepare regulatory financial reporting to FSRA and statutory filings as required
• Prepare and coordinate various Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee materials
• Prepare financial presentations with a keen sense of detail and still making it easy to read, understand and follow
• Developing strong internal processes and controls within the team and with key stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
• Continue to streamline and enhance financial report from the financial reporting general ledger, Netsuite
• Research and develop the financial accounting policies for UPP in collaboration with functions across the organization
• Keeping abreast of accounting standards development for pension plans in Canada (Section 4600), International Financial Reporting Standards, and regulatory standards published by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA)
• Develop and oversea the control framework for the UPP aligned with the enterprise risk management framework
• Lead the design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting and evolve the framework as UPP builds and grows
• Maintain and monitor the enterprise controls matrix

Job Requirements : Qualifications :

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting standards for pension plans in Canada and International Financial Reporting Standards and solid experience and in preparing financial statements. They will have

demonstrated success in their prior roles and be accustomed to working in a high energy, hands-on, dynamic organization, while dealing with multiple projects concurrently.
