Job Description
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) invites applications from team-oriented Family Physicians to provide Transitional Care (short stay) bed coverage in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. The Physicians provide services for the transitional care units located at Pioneer Lodge (~15 beds) and Moose Jaw Special Care Home (~20 beds). The physician will be a part of a rotation where a group of physicians will provide approximately 10 hours of physician services per week to the transition bed service. Bed clients.
- History and physical assessment with care plan within 72 hours of admission;
- In person weekly multidisciplinary rounds at each facility;
- Availability to attend to medical needs via phone/fax/in person 7 days/week as needed;
- Evolving emergent and non-emergent matters are intended to be managed between the hours of 0700-2000;
- After hours coverage as required, to be shared with Emergency Department;
- Opportunity to participate in the development of work standards and quality improvement initiatives.
Job Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain a regular license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan and obtain and maintain membership on the Saskatchewan Health Authority Practitioner Staff.
- The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to the provision of high-quality patient and family-centered care.
- All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; in accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. Preference will also be given to family physicians already practicing in Moose Jaw.
- The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
