Position Description

As our client’s new Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the organization, ensuring the cost-effective and timely procurement of goods and services to support operational efficiency. Your responsibilities encompass managing supplier relationships, exploring cost-reduction opportunities, ensuring a steady supply of required materials, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to streamline the flow of goods and services.

With keen market insight and excellent negotiation skills, your contributions will be appreciated for effectively balancing quality, cost, and delivery to optimize the organization’s procurement strategies. Your strategic input will be greatly valued for positively impacting the organization’s financial performance and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Overseeing a collection of materials and suppliers to achieve manufacturing objectives.
  • Tasked with all buying operations, supervising suppliers in a high-volume, fast-moving setting.
  • Assuring consistent availability of necessary goods and materials, and addressing any supply issues that may jeopardize business procedures.
  • Identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to lower costs.
  • Investigating alternative sources for goods and materials.
  • Keeping abreast of any shifts that might influence the supply and demand of required products and materials and informing others of potential effects.
  • Creating, preserving, and managing supplier relationships while ensuring effective communication.
  • Backing product change requests, reviewing, and communicating any effect on supply consistency.
  • Collaborating with various teams such as Production, Inventory, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics to guarantee a seamless delivery of goods and services.
  • Notifying other sectors about price fluctuations and availability as necessary.
  • Cooperating with suppliers to devise ongoing improvement plans addressing delivery timing, quality, and supply chain-related matters.

Experience

At least 5 years of procurement experience within a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Team-oriented with the capacity to form robust relations with other departments.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
  • Education

    Post-secondary education in procurement, supply chain management, business, or a related discipline.
