The average person with ALS borrows five pieces of mobility, breathing, communication, and other types of assistive equipment valued at $70,000.

We want to help people living with ALS and their families manage their health and live in joy despite an overwhelming and unpredictable terminal diagnosis.

Role :

The Equipment Technician is a vital part of the ALS Society team working with the Client Services Manager to maintain an inventory of mobility, breathing, communication, and other types of assistive equipment that is loaned free of charge to people living with ALS in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Duties :

  • Preparing equipment for either shipment or delivery based on requests from healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver equipment to clients in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. This requires some overnight travel, usually two days per month. A vehicle is provided.
  • Pick up equipment when it is no longer required.
  • Keeping equipment in good working order including sanitization of equipment.  Training is provided.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as necessary.

Qualifications :

  • Current Driver’s License and clean abstract.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
  • Criminal Records check.
  • Physical capacity to move equipment (up to 75 lbs).
  • A problem solver with mechanical ability.
  • Hours :

  • 30 hours bi-weekly.
  • Wednesday and Thursday
  • Occasional overtime will be banked or paid.
  • Compensation – $25 per hour
