Senior Project Manager (Mining / Infrastructure) — Remote

What is in it for you :

  • Salaried : $85 to $95 per hour.
  • Incorporated Business Rate : $100 to $115 per hour.
  • 12-month contract.
  • Full-time position : 40 hours per week.
  • Remote role, open to candidates across Canada.

Location :

  • Must be able to travel unrestricted to the United States, with a primary focus on Salt Lake City.
  • Travel requirements may exceed 20% depending on project phases.
  • Role purpose :

    This position involves managing complex, large-scale initiatives within mining and industrial environments. Responsibilities include overseeing studies, capital projects, closures, and operational improvements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Candidates with underground mining or heavy industrial experience are strongly preferred due to the challenges and specific demands of these settings.

    Responsibilities :

    Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) :

  • Analyze, identify, and mitigate risks to ensure the health and safety of field personnel.
  • Conduct site visits to operational and mining locations, ensuring fieldwork adheres to safety standards.
  • Enforce "Stop Work Authority" in cases of HSE control failures.
  • Project Planning and Execution :

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans tailored to mining and industrial settings.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Establish timelines, budgets, milestones, and performance metrics for project success.
  • Ensure the quality and timely delivery of projects, leveraging collaboration with IS&T teams.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and monitor performance against objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management :

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across various teams, including mining operations and technology platforms.
  • Provide project updates to leadership, sponsors, and relevant teams, fostering transparency and collaboration.
  • Lead diverse teams, including field staff, architects, IT specialists, and business representatives.
  • Change Management :

  • Design and execute strategies for the adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and deliver training to ensure readiness among stakeholders.
  • Address resistance to change, ensuring smooth transitions and compliance with standards.
  • Risk Management :

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks in mining and industrial environments.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and industry standards.
  • What you will need to succeed :

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • 10+ years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in mining, field operations, or heavy industrial environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of WAN / LAN infrastructure, telecom and radio communication systems, server platforms, application development, and cloud solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects involving diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in change management, including user training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience collaborating with infrastructure maintenance teams and field operations personnel.
  • Proficiency in managing risks, budgets, and performance metrics in industrial and mining settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management and team leadership.
  • Ability to use data-driven insights to drive project improvements and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with project delivery frameworks such as WBS structures, feasibility chapters, and package management.
  • Experience with mining or underground operations is a significant asset.
