This primary function of the Business Development Director, Pharmaceuticals is responsible for executing the Pharmaceuticals Industry Vertical strategy, developing, and growing National Key Accounts while driving collaboration between National Sales and Product functions. The position must ensure that global account growth plans are executed where applicable. The Business Development Director, Pharmaceuticals must drive end-to-end and value-added solutions selling with focus on National Key Accounts with sizeable potential.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Management

  • Ensure all global sales policies, processes and guidelines relating to the Industry Vertical are adhered to.
  • Ensure targets are met or exceeded on Industry Vertical level.
  • Review up-trading, down-trading, loss-making and newly gained accounts monthly and take corrective action.
  • Ensure Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Business Review (Strategic Business Review) meetings take place, are well-prepared and all relevant stakeholders involved in a timely way for National Key Accounts
  • Ensure minutes from Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Business Review Meetings are distributed to all relevant stakeholders and corrective actions are followed up for National Key Accounts
  • Ensure any concerns and / or complaints are timely escalated to all relevant stakeholders.

Customer Engagement

  • Drive growth of the Industry Vertical by ensuring appropriate collaboration in the Country within Sales and across Product functions
  • Grow the accounts within all customer segments in related Industry Vertical segments, developing long-term partnerships and increasing share of wallet.
  • Identify new markets and develop Industry Vertical -specific solutions and services in close cooperation with Corporate, Regional, and local functions as well as Product.
  • Personally engage key customers within the Industry Vertical to drive growth and assume ownership for a limited portfolio of accounts.
  • Opportunity Management

  • Ensure all Country RFQ opportunities follow the Tender Management process including timely pre-RFQ strategy and alignment with Product.
  • Ensure focus on high-value opportunities within the Industry Vertical and proper opportunity management.
  • Align and agree on strategic bid prioritization with sales and product.
  • Ensure RFI & RFQ post-bid analysis is created and shared, and corrective actions are aligned and agreed with Sales and Product functions for National Key Accounts under his / her responsibility.
  • Collaboration and Transparency

  • Ensure Industry Vertical and account growth plans are understood and supported.
  • Share relevant market intelligence and best practices within the organization.
  • Customer Orientation :

  • Focuses on the customer’s expectations and strategy and adapts approach accordingly.
  • Follows and acts on market trends and industry developments.
  • Deep understanding of industry supply chains, developments, and trends
  • Quality, Health & Safety :

  • Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification – Montreal location.
  • Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety, and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
  • Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience

  • Degree in Business administration, economics, marketing, international transportation, or supply chain logistics
  • 5 years of work-related experience (minimum)
  • At least 5 years of experience within respective industry vertical
  • 5 years of experience in supply chain management preferred.
  • CIFFA certificate, an asset
  • Skills and Competencies

  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
