We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-driven Metals Research Market Trade Analyst to join our client's team. This role involves conducting in-depth research, analysis, and forecasting of trends in the metals and mining markets, with an emphasis on supply and demand dynamics, pricing trends, and industry developments. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting business strategies by delivering actionable insights and thorough market evaluations.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain forecasting models that account for economic, regulatory, and environmental influences on market trends.
- Research and assess the market compatibility of bulk commodities critical to operations, such as coal and sulfur.
- Perform in-depth analysis of metals markets, including copper, nickel, and precious metals, to identify trends in supply, demand, and pricing.
- Compile and present regular and ad hoc market insights, including supply-demand analyses, pricing sensitivities, and market outlooks.
- Manage relationships with providers of market intelligence and oversee the integration of external insights into strategic decision-making.
- Prepare detailed sections for corporate reports, such as board presentations, annual information forms, and market analysis summaries.
- Investigate and address product quality concerns raised by customers.
- Facilitate and coordinate customer site visits as well as reciprocal visits to company facilities.
- Partner with investment, finance, and operational teams to provide market insights that influence corporate strategies, investment decisions, and project planning.
- Track and analyze changes in environmental regulations, mining policies, and technological advancements that may impact market conditions.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Geology, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Minimum of 3 years of experience in metals research, commodity analysis, or financial analysis within the metals / mining sector or financial institutions. Experience as a geologist or engineer in the mining or energy industry is an asset.Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time to client locations and company facilities.Strong verbal and written communication skills for preparing clear reports and presentations.Proficiency in tools such as MS Excel, financial modeling software, and market databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters Eikon).
