We are currently hiring a Systems Lead to join our team to both contribute to product development and lead the systems discipline within the Engineering function.

As an active & engaged member of the engineering team, you will provide systems engineering technical guidance and direction to project teams throughout the project life cycle, performing project specific system engineering tasks to create and maintain systems documentation and deliverables.

As the Systems Lead within the engineering function you will help define the company’s use of systems engineering processes, and tools.

You will be responsible for identifying knowledge gaps within the systems engineering function and provide guidance for building systems knowledge and expertise within the business.

As a successful candidate, you should have experience working as a systems engineering across the full engineering lifecycle and have a strong grasp of systems engineering process.

A familiarity with a wide range of systems engineering tools would also be beneficial.

  • Work with the Head of Engineering to define and maintain robust company systems engineering processes across the whole engineering lifecycle
  • Take responsibility for documenting, communicating and training company personnel on LCE’s systems engineering processes
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to identify, implement and maintain appropriate systems tools, utilities and extensions to meet current and upcoming company needs.
  • Manage the systems tool licensing budget to ensure appropriate license quantities are available, in use and vendor supported, in line with the needs of the business
  • Defining workflows and procedures associated with usage of company SE tools
  • Be prepared to act as a line manager and / or mentor to Systems Engineers within LCE
  • Advocate for and champion best System Engineering practices and System Thinking within the company
  • Support Bid work, capturing systems requirements and defining statements of work, high level systems designs, creating systems engineering estimates
  • Contribute to project teams as a senior systems engineer maintaining full lifecycle discipline across systems requirements, design, integration, test and verification activities

What We Are Looking For :

  • Experience working as a system engineer on software systems.
  • Experience in project execution processes from requirements through commissioning and support;
  • Experience with projects involving systems integration, systems testing and multiple Software Development Life Cycles;
  • Experience in the conduct of testing, use of automated test tools, requirements review, and structured testing techniques;
  • Experience working within systems engineering processes governing change and configuration management;
  • Experience in engaging pertinent stakeholders to elicit, elaborate and manage functional and non-functional requirements for new and existing functionality; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and customer interaction skills
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MSBE) practices;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and convey ideas / information one-on-one and group settings;
  • Comfortable presenting and demonstrating to stakeholders (including customers and senior management); and
  • Experience with supporting the development of Bid and Proposal material to support the technical solution.
  • Experience Developing Automated Test cases;

The nice to haves :

  • Previous experience with engineering process design or evaluation.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with a wide rather of systems engineering tools and methodologies

Security Clearance :

Given the nature of our software development work, it is a condition of employment that the successful candidate receive the required security clearances.

Successful candidates must be eligible for Controlled Goods Regulations Program (CGRP) government clearances and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) .

In addition, candidates must be able to obtain a Canadian Industrial Security Clearance to NATO SECRET level.

In general, in order to obtain these clearances, you

  • Must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Must have lived in Canada continuously for the past 10 years;
  • Must not have a criminal record.
