Electrical Safety Authority Chief Financial Officer

The Client

The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is a not-for-profit corporation that regulates and promotes electrical safety in Ontario. It is responsible for the administration and enforcement of regulations for the purpose of safety oversight in the Ontario electricity sector, through inspections, investigations, licensing, oversight of electricity distribution safety, monitoring the marketplace for unsafe electrical projects, training, as well as safety awareness and education campaigns, on behalf of the Government of Ontario. ESA works to enhance electrical safety for Ontarian through administering five regulations, including the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. ESA also provides a non-regulated field product certification service.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and play a central role in shaping and executing the Company’s strategic direction. The CFO will be a proactive, dynamic, forward-thinking leader responsible for driving financial strategy, improving organizational performance, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. The CFO will manage and oversee ESA’s financial functions, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, pension and investment management, procurement and property management.

This role calls for a Senior Finance Executive with a proven track record of strategic leadership and broad organizational experience. They will have a deep understanding of financial management, and a demonstrated ability to foster collaborative stakeholder relationships while successfully leading change initiatives. They will also need to excel at team development and be able to effectively work with a Board of Directors, external auditors and financial advisors. Experience with the energy sector, regulated entities, workplace and public safety, meeting government reporting requirements, and pension and investment management would be an asset.
