Compensation Details
- Dir Acct. & Fin. Analysis 20: Salaries typically range from $127,380 to $169,838 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 3 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.

Team Overview
The Director, Corporate Finance and Control reports to the Vice-President, Corporate Finance and Control. The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with strong leadership skills. The team is responsible for accounting and reporting for loans, insurance, treasury, investments, tax and pension in support of EDC’s compliance requirements. It comprises approximately 35 Financial Reporting and Accounting experts, focusing on internal controls, IFRS adherence, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will lead across multiple lines of business and information systems.
What You Will Be Doing
- Establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls, prepares financial reports.
- Performs general accounting activities and maintains accounting records and reports (general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports).
- Prepares, analyzes and reports accounting transactions ensuring integrity of records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and principles.
- Ensures all reports and disclosures comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and organizational policies.
- Responsible for financial regulatory and compliance reporting.
- Provides accounting guidance to ensure conformity with IFRS and company policies and procedures; ensures relevant accounting standards are applied consistently.
- Leads the implementation of new IFRS standards.
- Leads the use of modern tools and techniques to streamline reporting processes and provide insights.
- Leads performance and career development of assigned staff and provides indirect leadership across all Corporate Finance and Control teams.
- Ensures the team has adequate capacity and capability to address organizational needs.
- Accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams and major business processes.
- Develops the strategy for own area of accountability, including priorities.
- Provides Senior Management with required information for compliance, reporting and forecasting.
- Partners with Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting; works with external auditors; liaises with Internal Audit on audit engagements including the Finance-led Internal Controls over Financial Reporting program.
- Supports the Vice-President on the oversight of the incentive measures program.
- Demonstrates customer focus, transparency, and decisiveness; builds collaborative relationships internally.
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
- Professional accounting designation.
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Corporate Finance and Control or related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of leadership experience.
- Strong presentation and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels.
- Excellent leadership with high integrity and ability to coach others.
- Superior oral and written communication; ability to explain complex topics clearly.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across the organization.
- Ability to present and defend complex issues with significant impact on business success.
- Bilingual in English and French (for leadership roles only).
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience in financial services and/or Crown corporation environments.
- Accounting experience in pension and taxation.
