OCDSB Secondary Occasional Teachers List

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is the largest school board in Eastern Ontario and offers students and parents a world of choice for learning. Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best. We are seeking creative, dynamic, committed teachers to join our Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster We are looking for Certified Occasional Teachers to join our Secondary OT Roster (Grades 9-12). Occasional Teachers replace short term absences in our schools and are an integral part of our district. Qualifications Must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers Individuals with a pending OCT certificate should proceed with submitting their application Must hold both Intermediate and Senior qualifications; Must hold two (2) teachable subjects (which exist within the OCDSB) Individuals with French and / or Tech qualifications are only required to have the one teachable subject in both Intermediate and Senior Application Process All applications must be submitted through Apply to Education. Please enter as much information as possible in your Apply to Education profile as this information will be used for the initial screening process, including : Personal contact information Teachable subjects including those which you are formally qualified with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Language skills Teaching experience including start and end dates Education history, lived experiences, etc. Ensure your OCT number (including those pending) is entered in the Qualifications page of your Apply to Education portfolio. Additional documents such as teaching qualifications / licenses, diplomas / certificates, practicum reports, teaching evaluations, and reference letters are all optional. NOTE : If you are interested in being considered for both the Elementary and Secondary Occasional Teacher lists, please ensure you submit a separate application for each posting. Those who have applied to both postings and have been selected for an interview for both panels will participate in a single interview.

• Local residency is a mandatory requirement for onboarding. Successful candidates must reside in the Ottawa or surrounding area or be willing to relocate within 60 days from the date of offer. Interviews We thank all applicants for their interest in Occasional Teaching with the OCDSB. Following the closure of this competition (April 30, 2026), only candidates with the required qualifications, who are in Good Standing and visible on OCT, will be contacted for an interview for the next available date. Interviews are expected to take place in May 2026. Should your OCT certification remain pending at the closure of this competition, you will be required to re-submit your application.
