Occupational Hygiene Advisor for Leading Operator in the Mining Industry
Location : Northeastern Ontario (FIFO)
Title : Occupational / Industrial Hygienist
Position Summary :
We are seeking a Hygienist to join our site-based Health, Safety & Training team, being responsible to ensure the health of employees through the delivery of professional hygiene monitoring programs.
The Hygienist will help facilitate health programs and support staff in the implementation and management phases, ensure compliance with legislation, meet organisational and business requirements and deliver expert advice on hygiene, dust, radiation, noise and ventilation aspects of safety compliance.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Tertiary Qualification in Industrial or Occupational Hygiene
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written report writing skills
- Ability to use experience and knowledge to interpret data / find practical solutions
- Knowledge of health hazard controls (i.e. ventilation, filtration, respirator and cartridge selection, and hearing protection devices)
- Good project management skills, with the ability to engage successfully with both workers and managers
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Permanent work rights in Canada.
Desirable Qualifications
- Hold postgraduate qualifications in Industrial Hygiene or be working towards (highly regarded)
- Risk assessment to work safely in an underground mine and in proximity to mobile equipment
- Conduct workplace exposure monitoring for physical, biological and chemical hazards including dust, silica, chemical and biological agents
- Provide expert Industrial / Occupational Hygiene advice.
