As a software engineer in the Ads Bidding and Pacing team, you will work closely with technical leaders to implement sophisticated optimization systems and make existing systems more robust.
You are responsible for contributing to a technical design, working across the ad serving stack to create new functionality with urgency and care, and ensuring that codebases are healthy and maintainable in the long-term.
You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and marketing teams to ensure that our customers’ voices are represented in your work.
You will design, conduct, and analyze experiments to quantify the impact of the systems that you build.
You will serve as a leader and a key contributor to some of the most impactful monetization systems at Reddit.
Your Responsibilities :
- Identify and close infrastructural and operational gaps in our automated bidding products & pacing systems.
- Build systems that can ingest and process data at the scale of the whole-marketplace.
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure that improvements to bidding & pacing systems are aligned with the business’ vision for the marketplace.
- Design and conduct rigorous A / B experiments to evaluate the business impact of new bid & budget optimization algorithms.
- Writing maintainable code and conducting rigorous analyses.
- Contribute data-driven insight to projects in your space. We give everyone a seat at the table and encourage active participation in planning for the future.
Who You Might Be :
- Relevant experience working in ads & marketplace systems, and optimizing an ads marketplace
- MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics or related field, or equivalent is preferred.
- years of industry experience building systems that ingest and process data in real time using frameworks like Flink, Spark Streaming, Kinesis, and Kafka.
- Experience with general-use programming languages such as Scala, Go, and Java.
- Comfortable with distributed systems, big data (Petabyte scale) and data-intensive systems.
- Comfort and willingness to explore data in order to understand experiment results and inform design decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders
- Strong ownership mentality & independence, and desire to contribute to roadmap development.
