Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream

Job Description :

The Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto invites applications for up to two full-time teaching stream positions in the area of Social Work, Direct Practice.

The appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.

We seek candidates whose areas of pedagogy and practice are in one or more of the following : child or youth development, health / mental health, social work with families, or education for professional practice.

Teaching stream faculty are expected to combine their expertise in the discipline with best practices in teaching to create rich learning environments that embrace diversity, promote equity, and integrate research in a manner that challenges students to develop the skills, knowledge, and ethics to be leading professionals and scholars.

We seek candidates who possess the demonstrated intellectual curiosity and drive to pursue innovative pedagogical research and methods, and who are interested in establishing a long-term career as a teaching stream faculty member, based on excellent teaching, educational leadership or scholarship, and ongoing pedagogical / professional development.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Social Work or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly or professional development activities.

Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree granting program, including lecture preparation, instruction, and curriculum development.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through a record of teaching and mentoring accomplishments, awards and accolades, publications or presentations at conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
