Underwriting Supervisor

The Group Medical Underwriting team is growing! We are looking for a collaborative detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our leadership team as a Group Underwriting Supervisor . In this role you will support the Underwriting Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations ensuring service excellence and driving continuous improvement.

Our team supports multiple distribution channels and offers a diverse product portfolio including Life Disability Critical illness and Extended Health for group clients. You will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting underwriters in delivering accurate and timely decisions.

This is a Hybrid opportunity where you will come into the office Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and can work from home on Monday and Friday.

Position Responsibilities :

Support Leadership : Assist the Underwriting Manager in coaching and mentoring a team of underwriters and administrators by fostering engagement and creating career progression.

Operational Oversight : Monitor daily workflows to ensure timely and accurate processing of group medical underwriting cases.

Quality Assurance : Review underwriting decisions for consistency with risk management guidelines and compliance standards.

Collaboration : Work closely with internal partners (Sales Operations Product) to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Escalation Support : Act as a secondary point of contact for escalated cases providing guidance on moderately complex underwriting issues.

Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance customer experience.

Reporting & Metrics : Assist in tracking team performance and preparing operational reports for leadership review.

Required Qualifications :

Underwriting Knowledge : Solid understanding of group medical underwriting principles and practices.

Analytical Skills : Ability to assess risk and apply guidelines accurately.

Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication for internal and external interactions.

Problem-Solving : Ability to resolve issues effectively and propose practical solutions.

Interpersonal Skills : Collaborative approach to building relationships and supporting team success.

Salary range is expected to be between

$64575.00 CAD - $107625.00 CAD
