Under the supervision of the Director of Underwriting, our underwriting experts meet our customers’ outsourced underwriting needs, particularly with regard to the analysis and evaluation of mortality and morbidity risks.
The underwriter is responsible for examining the medical, financial and non-medical risk factors of life, disability and critical illness insurance applications.
You will also be responsible for making informed decisions in accordance with underwriting principles and guidelines, while respecting service deadlines.
Your future responsibilities
- Assess mortality and morbidity risks to determine underwriting requirements and file appropriately;
- Provide technical expertise and support to client companies;
- Manage difficult situations;
- Act autonomously within the limits of your signing authority;
- Actively support department management through contributions, training, leading team discussions, and participation in projects;
- Contribute to a positive work environment through teamwork and innovation;
- Participate in industry events and activities, and maintain relationships with key customers.
Your profile
- College or University degree or other relevant field of study;
- Minimum of five (5) years’ underwriting experience in the life insurance industry (non-standard medical and financial risks);
- FLMI and FALU certification (a definite asset);
- Service-oriented attitude with strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with our partners;
- Bilingualism (an asset).
