Automation Engineer

Montreal, ON

Introduction

We are recruiting for an Automation Engineer a global leader in plant and process solutions. This leading manufacturer specializes in designing and constructing highly productive and innovative industrial plants for the Food & Beverage and consumer goods industries.

Under limited supervision, the Automation Engineer is responsible for the manufacturing automation and controls systems design, specification, documentation, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance.

Responsibilities

Work as part of a larger multi-disciplined project team
Interpret a user requirement specification
Create the I / O List from Equipment List and P&IDs
Develop the functional analysis based on a Functional Description from a Mechanical Process Engineer
Develop the PLC program and / or HMI program from the company or the client’s development specifications
Participate and lead internals tests, such as Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test and Commissioning, including documentation their respective protocols,
Compile and author the Operator Installation Manual and technical equipment files
Provide operator and maintenance technician training

Qualifications

Bachelors or a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Must be an active member of the OIQ or have P.Eng designation

Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role

Automation Knowledge including Rockwell Studio 5000

Human Machine Interfaces including Rockwell Factory Talk SE

Communication protocols including AS-I and Ethernet IP

Virtualization Software - VMware Software

Competency in MS suite and other data entry software’s

Versatility and strong willingness to learn and perform more than assigned tasks

Ability to complete tasks without constant supervision

A strong interest in technical tasks and willing to go out in the field. Keen eye for detail

Good communication and interpersonal skills. Having a global and passionate mindset is important as you will be working in a multi-cultural environment

Involved in decision-making to execute of the assigned scope of work within the constraints of schedule, budget, and specification

Physical requirements

This job requires frequency standing and walking but does not require standing for a long time or lifting weights.
