Salary : To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy

Status : Temporary Full Time (1 year MLOA coverage)

As an integral member of the Laboratory Medicine Program’s Division of Clinical Biochemistry, the responsibilities of the Clinical Biochemist are as following :

Duties

Provide oversight and support for Clinical Biochemistry as it relates to : analytical and quality aspects of laboratory analysis, method development and implementation, interpretation of results, consultation with physicians, and support partner client hospital laboratories

Qualifications

  • Must hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related disciplines and be certified in clinical chemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (CACB) and / or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC)
  • A strong record of scholarship, experience or special training in clinical biochemistry, toxicology, routine and STAT chemistry, special chemistry, endocrinology, mass spectrometry, point of care testing and other state-of-the-art methodologies in biochemical diagnostics
  • Fellowship with Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (CACB) and / or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC)
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Highly motivated individual with demonstrated professional skills, able to work in team settings, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader
