About the position

Duties

This position develops, implements, and ensures compliance with long-range plans for Jasper National Park, Fort St. James National Historic Site, the Municipality of Jasper, Outlying Commercial Accommodations and Hostels, and other business operations and major attractions outside of the community; ensures compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, regulations and policies as they apply to Municipal and leasehold operations; develops and maintains partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Municipality of Jasper, the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, the Planning Development and Advisory Committee, the Government of Alberta, and commercial, recreational and visitor groups; implements and monitors measures to ensure ecological and cultural resource integrity within the Municipality and within the field unit on commercial and institutional leaseholds; manages the realty and development review programs for the field unit. Your staff of 7-10 share your conviction that the Townsites and Realty function contributes directly to Parks Canada’s corporate priorities : land use instruments include requirements for the protection of cultural and natural resources, and ensure a fair return to the Crown for Parks Canada lands; development, building, sign permits, and business licenses are issued once the requirements of management and community plans have been addressed; lessees understand and welcome their responsibilities to help visitors understand and appreciate these special places; advisory councils provide meaningful advice to Parks Canada on issues of local concern; and townsite facilities are maintained to ensure safe and attractive communities for residents and visitors.Your management colleagues support each other in achieving shared goals throughout Jasper National Park. In particular, you often seek the advice of the Resource Conservation, Visitor Experience, Assets, and Planning Managers, and they yours.
