The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems.
Objective
- Together with the other member of the team, to analyze the input needs (external or internal) and requirements, and design the solution by re-using existing solutions (contracts context) or by developing a new solution or adapting an existing one (program context)
- Provide technical interface with non-signaling teams such as rolling stock, electrification, Civil and Track, and Operations and Maintenance
- To formalize and maintain the system specifications (operational, functional, and constructional), application rules, and supporting processes descriptions and their associated verification, validation and assessments
- In this role you will provide all the necessary support to the System Engineering Manager (SEM) / Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) for the technical answers to the specific project needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Member of the project engineering teamReview deliverables from non-signaling teams for impact to signaling scopeDeliver signaling solution and design information to non-signaling teams in support of customer and consortium higher level designs.Translate customer needs into achievable system requirementsFormalizes and maintains the system specification (Requirement Specification, Operation context , Architecture & Interface Descriptions) according to applicable templates contentEnsures traceability through-out the formal documentation and requirements, up to the input needs (input specifications, Change Request)Develop interface specifications for external interfaces as well as interfaces between internal sub-systemsEnsure technical consistency and feasibility of (Sub)system requirements with sub-system team leadersEnsure technical consistency with application engineering, product design, requirements management, safety, reliability, and Verification & Validation teamsCoordinates with program team members to implement design and work through design revisionsApply Alstom standard processes and contribute to continuous improvement effortsApply Procedures concerning Configuration, Documentation, and Change ControlSupport the project team for technical discussions with the customerParticipate in internal technical meetings called by the Project Engineering Manager or the Project ArchitectDevelop the system documents, including plans, specifications, and other technical documents.Ensure that the system performance fulfils the defined needs and enhancements (change requests)Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical disciplineMinimum of 7 years of experience in Systems Engineering or equivalent design experience7 years of experience working on signaling projects as a sub-system or system engineer, desired.3 years’ or more experience with Cab Signal / Speed Code signaling solutions and Rolling Stock Environment, desired3 years’ or more experience with Wayside Signaling and Computer Based Interlocking (CBI) solutions and Wayside / Trackside Environment, desiredProfessional Engineer certification or in progressCompetencies & Skills
