Position Summary
The Power Engineering Summer Student will gain steam time toward their Third-Class Power Engineering studies and will have the opportunity to experience both utilities and process work.
These positions will be based on a three- or four-month work term during the summer of 2026, depending on the program schedule of the post-secondary power engineering program the student is enrolled in. Candidates will work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and acquire the required time in accordance with ABSA Power Engineering regulations, Section 18(7).
Position Responsibilities
The Power Engineering Summer Student will work under the guidance of a qualified shift operator and will have the opportunity to participate in the operator training program. Responsibilities include conducting unit rounds, monitoring equipment, assisting with equipment preparation for maintenance, and performing boiler water sampling and testing.
