Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) systems and equipmentAct as a Test Director and direct multidisciplinary employees during testing of submarine systems and equipmentConduct equipment troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenanceContribute to solutions for moderate to high complexity problems and clearly articulate complex technical issues, solutions and risks to stakeholdersLead small to medium sized teams to deliver assigned projects or tasksProvide mentorship or guidance for other Test SpecialistsRecord defects using Babcock Canada IT applicationsBe responsive to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environmentDraft and review test documentation and work instructionsDraft and review lockout / tagout documentation required to make systems safe and conduct commissioning activitiesIdentify risks and opportunities during the course of testing and maintenanceOther duties as requiredIdeal Candidate
Strong technical skills including post‑secondary education; degree, diploma or certificate in electrical engineering technology or equivalent experienceRegistration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) with the applicable provincial association, or eligibility to complete such registration within 12 months of commencing employment8+ years of related technical experienceMarine, offshore oil and gas drilling, naval vessel or submarine operational experience an assetExperience operating, testing / commissioning electrical systems an assetPhysical ability to climb and descend ladders and stairs to access work areas and walk or stand for extended periodsPhysical dexterity to work in confined spaces and limited room for movement; comfortable working on scaffolding at heights and around waterComfortable working in an industrial environment and around moving equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.)Preferred knowledge in electrical technologies : AC systems and power distribution control systems; DC control systems / motor controls / generators; lead acid or lithium‑ion battery systems; fibre‑optic applications; uninterrupted power supplies and switching; functional and non‑functional system performance testing in new construction or retro‑commissioningStrong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonalStrong computer skills including MS Office suiteEligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR ClearanceEquity, Diversity & Inclusion
