Job description

Position Overview

Manage and coach remote and geographically disbursed medical transcription team to ensure timely and accurate patient care reports for the service delivery organization (SDO).

Manage and adjust staffing to ensure compliance with provincially set turnaround time for completion of work to improve access to information for quality patient care.

Oversee the automated transcription environment and assign medical dictation from clinical providers based on volumes.

Contribute to the development of HIS proposals, impact analysis studies, and submissions for new / expanded facility specific regional programs as they relate to transcription services.

Experience

  • 5 years of progressive management experience, preferably in a unionized health-care setting including : 3 years of experience working in a Health Information Services environment with a focus on health information management systems such as transcription and speech recognition applications. 2 years of experience in analyzing data quality and integrity. 2 years of experience building and managing interdisciplinary teams, preferably across a range of health-care settings. 2 years of experience with communicating with internal and external stakeholders including patients.

Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in health information management, health administration, management or business administration, or related from an accredited post-secondary education institution.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Certification / Licensure / Registration

  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
  • Active membership in the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated mid-level leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the framework.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions from clinical customers and management representatives are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
  • This position leads and directs staff working days, evenings, and weekends.
  • If working outside of the provincial capital, the position holder must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.
