Apply Now Posting Number : PC -24-72 Job Type : Permanent Full-time, Union Salary Range :  $52,798.20 to $63,226.80 per year Location : Barrie, ON - Onsite (see below for more details) Posted :  Friday, December 6, 2024 Application Deadline : Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 11 : 59 pm The Opportunity The Legislative and Court Services Department is comprised of three branches; Legislative Services (which includes Council Secretariat, Corporate Mail and Print Services, Vital Statistics and Access and Privacy Services), Court Services (which is responsible for the administration of justice within two court service areas in compliance with the Provincial Offences Act, the Memorandum of Understanding and Inter-municipal Service Agreements) and Enforcement Services which is responsible for administering and enforcing several municipal by-laws including but not limited to regulations related to the parking of vehicles, pet controls, property maintenance, business licensing, and sign placement). The Courtroom Support Clerk is responsible to provide court support and administration services in the Provincial Offences Court in accordance with provincial legislation, directives and operational guidelines. This position plays an integral role both in and outside of the courtroom to ensure the integrity of the Ontario Court of Justice system is maintained. Travel to the Orillia court location is required.   • One (1) year College Certificate in legal administration, court support or a related discipline

  • Experience

  • Two (2) years of cumulative part-time experience or one (1) year of full-time experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities of the position
  • Knowledge / Skill / Ability

  • General knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, Provincial Offences Act, Courts of Justice Act and the Ontario Evidence Act
  • Working knowledge of general office and / or courtroom equipment (computers, printer, various software applications, phone, adding machines, photocopier / scanner etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to : keep personal or situational information confidentialmake announcements and statements fully and clearly in an audible voice in a public forummulti-task and problem solvework effectively in a team environment and individually at remote sites without direct supervision
  • Advanced skills include : Customer Service; Interpersonal; Organizational; Verbal and Written Communication (including strong spelling skills and a solid understanding of English Canadian
  • grammar / language rules)

  • Intermediate computer literacy using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.), and accurate keyboarding skills of at least 50 words per minute
  • Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business
