SCOPE OF POSITION

ConeTec is an international full-service geo-environmental and geotechnical site characterization contractor. The Field Engineer / Geologist is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of geotechnical and geophysical site investigation equipment. This role involves full-cycle project executionfrom equipment deployment to data acquisition and submissionwhile working closely with operators and gaining hands-on experience with specialized heavy machinery and instruments in diverse environments. The position also includes supporting roles such as Equipment Operator or Project Coordinator, depending on project needs. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates must be willing to travel frequently, typically 23 weeks at a time, totaling 100200 hotel nights per year.

This is a fully field-based role with no office time, perfect for those who thrive in hands-on environments! While the position is based out of Surrey, BC, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects across Western and Northern Canada, all the way to Manitoba.

OVERALL GOALS FOR POSITION

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of site investigation practices and procedures.
  • Build comprehension of soil mechanics, in-situ testing, and geophysical field investigations.
  • Gain experience and exposure as a contractor in several of North Americas largest industries.
  • Expand skill set through training and certifications to become an asset to a larger team.

ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Equipment Operation

  • Familiarize with and operate CPTu equipment, VST, sampling systems, numerous geophysicalinstruments and other in-situ testing equipment in a safe and productive manner.
  • Become trained, company-certified and competent to operate numerous types of drillingequipment and other pieces of equipment within our extensive fleet.
  • Organize logistics for the mobilization and demobilization of equipment in hard-to- accessenvironments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on various pieces of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Data Collection & Reporting

  • Perform testing to collect data in a timely, orderly and accurate manner.
  • Compile the collected data, sample logs, etc. daily and submit to the Engineer / Supervisor and / orclient for further processing.
  • Collect field notes and photos to guarantee the translation of data from the field to the office is as highlyaccurate as possible.
  • Prepare and compile the final field report.
  • Health & Safety

  • Identify with and respect ConeTecs safety culture, first and foremost.
  • Ensure proper preparation and knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures beforebeginning any job.
  • Report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and theHSE Officer, immediately.
  • Know and follow the incident reporting protocol at all times.
  • Other General Responsibilities

  • This position requires frequent travel to a variety of work sites throughout Western Canada
  • Communicate with the Supervisor or Project Manager as to any equipment problems or needs, aswell as any field observations that might be of use.

  • SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    Education Requirements

  • Completed a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Geology or other geo-related science
  • Drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Experience Requirements

  • Previous field experience is an asset.
  • Technical Skill Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is an asset
  • Electrical and mechanical skills are an asset but not required
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling as well as walking on uneven ground, working long hours in all weather conditions.

  • Must possess a strong work ethic and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
  • Must enjoy working outdoors and travelling for extended periods of time.
  • Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks andpriorities.
