Join to apply for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice role at NVA Canada .
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand daily practice operations and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, common features include a supportive environment, commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. This program is designed for clinical-year veterinary students.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel and living expense stipend. Click HERE to view the stipend amounts and details on the stipend program .
