We’re looking for an HR Technology Technical Lead to take ownership of our HR technology ecosystem and help shape how more than 2,000 employees experience HR every day. In this role, you’ll be the technical authority behind our core HR platforms—configuring, optimizing, securing, and continuously improving systems that support the full employee lifecycle.
You’ll work closely with HR, IT, Risk, and business partners to turn complex needs into intuitive, scalable solutions. While this role has no direct reports, it plays a critical leadership role by mentoring others, setting technical standards, and leading cross‑functional initiatives that modernize and automate HR processes.
Key Responsibilities :
As the HR Technology Technical Lead, you will be responsible for the technical health, governance, and evolution of our HR systems. You’ll balance hands‑on configuration work with strategic thinking, risk management, and collaboration across the organization.
Lead the Technical Direction of HR Systems
- Act as the technical lead for all standard and non‑standard HR system configuration, security, and enhancements
- Set and model strong change control practices, including documentation, testing, approvals, and production releases
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and informal leadership to junior HR Systems team members
- Track and report on HR systems operational workload and identify opportunities to streamline and improve how work gets done
Own System Configuration & Optimization
Serve as the primary owner for HR system modules, workflows, and configuration decisionsMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively address configuration risksMaintain clear, audit‑ready documentation including configuration guides and security modelsReview vendor release notes and plan for the adoption of new features that add real valuePartner with HR program owners and end users to understand pain points and deliver thoughtful, user‑centric solutionsEnsure Strong Governance, Security & Risk Management
Apply rigorous change control to minimize the risk of defects, data loss, or unauthorized accessLead and participate in testing activities for system changes across the HR Systems workstreamEstablish and maintain appropriate role‑based access controls, including quarterly access reviewsReview SOC reports and adjust system controls as required to meet security and compliance standardsCollaborate & Lead Cross‑Functional Initiatives
Work closely with HR, IT, Risk, and other partners to design automated, scalable solutions that reduce manual workBuild a strong understanding of HR programs and practices to better contextualize technical requestsTranslate technical concepts into clear, practical language for non‑technical stakeholdersTake on project leadership or project management responsibilities for new modules, features, or system rollouts as neededKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Deep experience configuring HR platforms such as UKG, Workday, SuccessFactors, or similar systemsStrong understanding of HR system security models, role‑based access, and data privacy requirementsProven ability to configure, troubleshoot, and optimize complex HR systemsExcellent documentation skills to support audit, compliance, and long‑term sustainabilityStrong analytical and consulting skills, with the ability to translate business needs into practical system solutionsHow You Work

Salary Range : CAD $79,100.00 to $118,700.00 annually.
Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.
Office Location : Toronto Corporate Office located at 3280 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, ON or St. Catharines Corporate Office, located at 75 Corporate Park Drive, St. Catharines, ON.
