This position is an in office position located in Burlington and Oakville.
About the Role
They are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the organization’s financial operations, accounting processes, and key administrative functions. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys both managing day-to-day finance activities and improving systems, controls, and processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and review month-end bookkeeping and close processes
- Prepare and issue monthly operating reports and financial statements
- Review year-end information packages and coordinate with external accountants
- Create and maintain annual budgets and ongoing budget monitoring
- Record and manage asset fair market value (FMV) adjustments in accounting systems
- Oversee cash flow management
- Review and oversee HST filings and related compliance
- Review payroll processing for accuracy and compliance
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Oversee bank and credit card reconciliations and cash management
- Handle CRA audits, reviews, and objections in coordination with advisors
- Direct, support, and oversee the work of a junior bookkeeper
- Improve, document, and standardize internal financial and operational processes
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation practices
- Manage personal, business, and property insurance renewals
- Open and close bank accounts and credit card facilities as required
- Administer employee benefit programs
- Maintain corporate minute books and related governance documentation
- Oversee document management related to finance, tax, and compliance
- Maintaining entity charts and ownership structures
- Support principals and the investment team with financial inquiries and reporting needs
- Act as a trusted internal partner on financial operations and compliance matters
Qualifications
CPA designation or equivalent experience preferred5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or operationsStrong knowledge of financial reporting, tax, and regulatory complianceExperience managing CRA audits and regulatory reviewsProven ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detailStrong communication skills and ability to work directly with senior leadership
