TWL Law is hiring a Law Clerk that will be given substantial responsibility. The Law Clerk will enjoy high levels of support and a commitment to professional development while working closely with team members and clients.
The Law Clerk will be exposed to a variety of legal matters, including commercial disputes, construction disputes, employment disputes and insurance disputes among others.
Experience handling litigation files is an asset.Key Areas of ResponsibilityFile Management from intake to trialPrepare correspondence, requesting medicals, employment recordsBriefing and update files including initial reports, etc.
Draft and revise various court documents such as Pre-Trial Memorandum, Affidavit of DocumentsMotion Records, Statement of Claim, and Trial Records as requestedDraft Mediation Memorandums and pre-trial memo, trial briefs, AODs etc.
Prepare assessable disbursements and assist with billing, when needed.Review and summarize medical documents and other file contents.
Schedule client meetings, Mediations and Examinations for Discovery - Maintain and manage Counsel’s calendarTrial Preparation including preparing summons to witness, Notice of Intent and document briefsOther administrative duties as required.
QualificationsLaw Clerk Diploma from a recognized college 2+ years of demonstrated t experience within a law firm Excellent written and verbal skills, able to communicate effectively with a wide audienceFlexible, strong time management skills, deadline-oriented and able to effectively manage multiple priorities.
Resourceful, and proactive with strong problem-solving skillsStrong sense of professionalism and able to work well under pressure or within tight deadlinesCustomer service focusedAdvanced MS Office skills, experience with litigation based softwareWorking knowledge of Clio is an assetProven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
